People say that because I'm Wiccan, I should stop eating meat. Unfortunately I LOVE meat. I love beef, I love chicken, I love turkey (not too much actually...) and I'd never be able to give up meat. But that doesn't mean that I stand against people who give up meat from their lives. Honestly though, I am one of those people who will hold a grudge against someone for littering once. I love taking care of animals and I hate to see life desecrated. And some people take that as far as not eating meat. Honorable, yes, but when I think about it... don't lions eat meat? And people say to me that lions hunt and we don't. In effect, they're saying that we shouldn't eat meat unless we take the animal ourselves and that we shouldn't eat what others have killed. Lions don't really hunt. Lionesses do. Lionesses hunt and share what they killed with their family and then the vultures finish off what's left. Humans run a company of that. They raise animals by masses and kill a small percentage a day and process it so that a lot of us could eat from one animal. Kill to be cruel like the Japanese dolphin hunt, is horrible. But I believe that eating meat isn't cruel and in a good majority of cases, the animals that produce the meat are not tortured.

I support your being Vegan as much as I support my own self consuming meat. I just thought I'd just put my two cents (is that the right phrase for this?) in.

You're right though. I don't believe eating meat is wrong, In any sense of the word. I just believe the current methods used to obtain the meat are a bit... extreme. I won't go into naming all the things that go on in the cultivation of meat, dairy, fish, and eggs. But lets just say, torture 'is' involved; Even if the intent isn't out of cruelty, but rather for faster more efficient production, that doesn't make it right.


goveg.com has a lot of information about what truly goes on, as well as link to other websites with more information. For a long time, I doubted their truth. I suspected acting, activists pretending to be cruel to animals, simply to further their statement. but then, I saw a video of them loading a chicken truck. The irony of it, I have a picture of a chicken truck. I was driving to school one day, and I took a picture of the truck. because the feathers were blowing everywhere. Thats when it hit me, this video is real, that truck is real! It made me realize just because I don't see it going on, doesn't mean it isn't going on.

I will never say I am a better person because I am vegan, and I will never say someone else is bad, wrong, or evil for eating meat. I will never think less of someone because of their dietary choice. It is simply a choice I make in my own personal life, and I have no more right to impose my choice on them, than a Christian or Muslim has a right to force their religion on me, a homosexual or heterosexual has the right to impose their sexuality on me, or a republican or democrat has a right to force their morality on me.
